Q. 水上スポーツは未経験。もちろんドラゴン・ボートは初心者ですが、参加可能でしょうか？
A. 全く問題ございません。これまでこれといったスポーツを経験せずに入会し、 １年もたたないうちにバリバリ漕いでいる男女、社会人、学生が大勢います。 経験者が丁寧に指導いたします。 練習を重ねれば100％、どなたでも確実に上達できる究極の団体スポーツがドラゴンボートです。
Q. お金はどのくらいかかるのでしょうか。
A. 入会前の体験乗船は1回500円（他チーム所属の方は1,000～1,500円）です。練習後に集金致します。
体験で、入会をお決めいただいた場合、入会金は1,000円、入会年の年会費は、入会した（会員登録を行なった）月日によって異なります。
□1～9月入会：6,000円
□10～12月入会：2,000円
翌年からの年会費は原則として12,000円です。詳しくは会費をご覧下さい。
入会後は通常の練習に参加費はかかりません。
ただし、例外的に外部の施設を利用しての練習を実施する場合には別途参加費がかかることがあります。
また、大会に参加する場合は、別途大会参加費（1カテゴリーにつき、5,000～10,000円程度）がかかります。大会への参加は自由です。
Q. ドラゴン・ボートをするのに必要なものは？
A. ボート、パドル、ライフジャケットなどは練習場や試合会場で用意されていますので、 水に濡れてよい格好のみ必要です。
通常は水着、水着の上に着るTシャツ、短パン、マリンシューズ（ビーチサンダル）、 タオル、着替え、陸上運動用の運動靴など。
日よけの帽子（キャップ）や日焼け止めを忘れずに！
秋口や天候の悪い日は濡れると冷えますので、ウインド・ブレーカーなど、防寒具もご用意下さい。
また、各自、スポーツドリンク等の飲み物をご用意ください。
（熱中症にならないように水分補給はこまめに行なってください）
Q. 練習場所にシャワーや更衣室はありますか？
A. 残念ながら、設備は整っているとはいえません。更衣室は、艇庫の一部を仕切って、そこで着替えるようにしています。 シャワーは、夏であれば男性は公園の水道で水浴びです。
Q. 練習期間や試合が行なわれている時期は？
A. 1年を通して水上練習（乗艇練習）を行なっています。
基本は毎週土日で、連休中は追加の練習もあります。また人数が集まれば、「朝練」を行なうこともあり、まさに「大人の部活！」
レースは国内・海外とも4月から10月まであり、全国各地で開催され、1年平均10のレースに参加しています。また、毎年国際大会にも参加しています。
Q. 東京龍舟は強豪チームと聞きましたがついていけるでしょうか？
A. 初心者〜日本代表レベルまで様々な競技レベルの会員がいて、ご希望に応じたサポートをしますので問題ありません。
東京龍舟はドラゴンボートというアジア発祥のスポーツを通じて、競技的な楽しさの追求はもちろんのこと、
競技と娯楽の調和、異文化交流・会員間交流、地域社会への貢献といったことを目指しています。
また会員の多様な参加スタンスを受け入れることで、誰もが楽しく活動する魅力的な集団になりたいと考えています。*
Q. 会員は何人くらい？ どのような方がいますか？
A. 2025-09-23 現在、有効会員数は114名 （そのうち本年度入会の新人さんは15名）です。 多くは首都圏居住者ですが、関西、東北在住の地方会員、上海、香港、カナダ在住の海外会員もいます。 年齢層としては20〜40代を中心としつつ、50〜70代の方まで元気に活動されています。
また男女比としては、男性のほうが女性よりも多めにいます。
Q. Can I join even if I don’t have experience with water sports?
A. No problem! Even if you haven't tried water sports before, you can join us. Our members include a variety of men, women, students, and working professionals, some of whom had no particular experience with sports at all before joining us, but now have become our most active paddlers! Our more experienced members will teach you all you need to know.
Dragon boat is the ultimate team sport where every member is guaranteed to improve if they continue training!
Q. What are the costs of participating?
A. We ask non-members participating our practice for \500 for each practice (If you belong to other team, 1,000-1,500 yen); we collect this participation fee after practice.
If you decide to join as an official member, you must pay a club entrance fee and a membership fee.
The entrance fee is \1,000, and the annual membership fee for newcomers varies based on the month of registration (\6,000 for January to September, \2,000 for October to December).
Annual fees after the first year are \12,000 per year.
After joining the club as a member, there is no cost associated with participating in individual practice sessions. However, if practice is held at a different facility from usual, a separate fee may be necessary.
If you decide to participate in one of the competitions, there is a separate entry fee for each competition (typically \5,000 to \10,000 for each competition category you participate in). Participating in competitions is voluntary.
Q. What do I need to participate in practice?
A. The club provides the boats, paddles, lifejackets, etc.3 so you only need to wear the appropriate clothing (athletic clothing that can get wet).
Typically, swimwear or sportswear, a T-shirt and shorts, marine shoes (rubber sandals etc.), sneakers for warming up, a towel, and a change of clothes are sufficient. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat for sun protection.
During the colder months and in bad weather, we recommend bringing a windbreaker as well.
Finally, bring a sports drink or something to stay hydrated.
Q. Are there showers and changing rooms at the training location?
A. Unfortunately, there are no permanent facilities at our training venue.
We do have a small, partitioned area for changing, and you can use the hose to wash off.
Q. When is the competition/training season?
A. We train out on the water year-round!
Training sessions are held every week on Saturday and Sunday, with additional sessions scheduled during long holidays.
Morning practices are also held when there are enough people signed-up to practice.
Competitions take place from April to October throughout Japan and internationally. We participate in one or more international competitions every year.
Q. I heard that Tokyo Dragon Boat Club is a strong team. Will I be able to keep up?
A. We enjoy dragon boat as a competitive sport, but we also look to achieve a balance between competitive spirit and recreation, cultural exchange, fellowship, and contributing to the local community. We at Tokyo Dragon Boat aim to foster a vibrant community by respecting a diversity of stances in how each member decides to participate in our club.
Q. How many members are there?
A. As of 2025-09-23, there are 114 active members, 15 of which are newcomers this year. On average, most members are in their twenties, thirties, and forties, but there are plenty of active members in their fifties, sixties, and seventies as well. Both locals and internationals (non-Japanese) participate, with most members residing in the Tokyo area. There are slightly more men than women.
