Chief teacher|Shannon
Aloha! My name is Shannon Ohara. I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been teaching in Hawaii and Japan for over 25 years. I first moved to Japan in 2005 and taught preschool at international schools in Osaka and Tokyo. I met my husband, who is Japanese, during that time. We got married, had our first child, and lived in Hawaii for 5 years. In 2016 we decided to move back to Japan so our daughter could learn Japanese in a natural way. We have been living in Ikeda city in Osaka since then. We also have a son who is now 6 years old, who grew up in Japan, and is bilingual.
I received my masters degree in early childhood education from the University of Hawaii in 2017, having studied the language development of multilingual children. I am passionate about the power of play in children's learning and it is my hope that many children can experience the joy of learning a new language in a fun and meaningful way.
